Amanda Wood & Malcolm Aiken

Two of Western Canada’s most celebrated musicians, vocalist Amanda Wood and trumpeter Malcolm Aiken combine their talents in an unforgettable performance that brings together the dazzle of the voice with the elegance of flugel horn and trumpet.

Amanda Wood is a highly celebrated vocalist and international touring aritist, with shows at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Wynn Hotel Las Vegas, Shanghai and Hong Kong. With a voice described by David Foster as "sultry and unique" she is a soulful performer with a gift for emotional story telling.

Malcolm Aiken brings a musical style that flirts with latin and pop, infused with a smooth jazz groove. His velvet tone plays homage to Chet Baker and Miles Davis while his original compositions are inspired by his own influences as an artist, "the smoky jazz club, the cuban dance hall, the symphony orchestra."

Performing music off their new albums "On My Way to You" and "Paper Star", the duo also play bold new takes on jazz standards and contemporary artists like Adele, Coldplay and Lou Reed. They are backed by Cuban drummer Gorge Smith and Juno Award-winning Miles Black on piano, bringing together new elements of jazz and pop with a touch of world fusion.
